CSI: Felix - The Night of the Long Claws
As cat slaves we know the joys of waking up to body parts strewn all over the house. But this morning...

Three rabbits and a startled toad. And to judge by the size of our cats stomachs - think cartoon cats with bunny sized bulges - that was just the leftovers. For the first time ever neither cat required breakfast.

Both cats are now sleeping and the startled toad - Toadus Inedibilis - is in therapy.

We may join him.

wow... that's an impressive haul. My (deceased) cat used to bring home mice and birds aplenty, but nothing so grand as a rabbit. The cleanup was minimal, of course, but required a strong stomach nonetheless as certain body parts were always left behind for my "approval".

Many moons ago(think the 1980's) my mom, grandmother and I spent 45min trying to get a dead baby rabbit away from "Sneakers", our large male(neutered) cat. Needless to say, he ate the whole thing, bones and all...and then didn't eat for 3 days. Then he threw up the bones and fur. We used to call him "anaconda" after that sometimes. So, expect some yarfing up in the next 2-3 days.

Is that for real? I never had a cat bring home anything that big. In fact they never actually ate the stuff they brought home - just tortured it.

We think they found a nest. All the rabbits were young adults. Two, which were left whole, Shelagh cut up and cooked for them.

The largest catch we've ever woken up to was a strange looking bird - very big with a long curved bill (snipe/curlew?) - which we found alive and sat in our kitchen sink a few years back. It looked as surprised as we did.

My current partner, the fastidious Madame Neri is the opposite of all these 'normal' cats. On the few occasions when a baby bird has flown onto our balcony she cries and fusses until I come and put it back on the vine so it can fly away. I know she's a cat because she told me so, but sometimes I wonder....

Lucky Toad.

Ours bring home the odd mouse and bird, but even they were in admiration of the dog which managed to catch a mouse last summer.

To get anything other than lofty indifference from a cat is a real achievement :)

my youngest cat, Commodore Fluffy Paws (the Third)we had 2 other cats already, caught and killed a grouse ,which got lost and wandered around our village , he usually just does mice, sparrows, and voles but he has had several robins and blue tits.My brother-in-law once told me about rescuing a small rabbit from one of their cats, when asked what they did with it he replied "gave it a 5 minute start"
