Shift: The first reviews are in!
It's always a tense time for authors - the new book comes out and you're not sure how it's going to be received. One minute you're up, the next you're down and in sweeps the doubt - the book's no good, I should have spent more time re-working it...

And then in come the reviews.

Well, the first two reviews for Shift are out and couldn't have been much better.

Don D'Amassa at Critical Mass writes:

"I think I somehow missed reading Dolley's first novel, Resonance, when it appeared a couple of years ago. It's an oversight that I plan to correct in the near future because his second is a very accomplished, intricate, and entertaining novel. There's lots of neat stuff in this, and the plot is clever and full of surprises. It's first class writing from someone whose name will, I predict, be much better known before long."

And Harriet Klausner at Alternative Worlds writes:

"SHIFT is a great science fiction mystery that will have the audience wondering who the killer is. The story line is fast-paced but brilliantly driven by the strong cast ... Chris Dolley mesmerizes his audience."

Just read Shift (haven't read you before this) and was very impressed. Thanks for writing such an interesting and enjoyable novel. I'll be looking up Resonance once I finish posting this!

Resonance arrived today from Amazon.com, I'll read that once I finish my current series. Out of curiosity, what sort of novels can I expect from you in the future? Or perhaps more importantly, when? :)

Well, the hardback of Shift is out now (paperback probably early 2009) - it's an unusual SF mystery set in an eleven dimensional universe (with an unexpectedly out-of-body detective, a serial killer with multiple personalities, and a potentially damaged or lost spaceman)

Two more books are with publishers awaiting a decision. Hidden in Time is a time travel (or is it?) mystery about a man suddenly waking up in his 14-year old body back in 1969. Trouble is it's not quite the 1969 he remembered. And there's this girl who calls herself Emma Peel...

And I have a police procedural set in a fantasy world where magic is rife. CSI with magic:)

Knowing how slowly the publishing industry can move I wouldn't expect either of those books to be available until 2009.

Thanks for the update - I'm actually the anonymous person who posted above who had just read Shift so now that I have Resonance I'm running out of your novels quickly. I appreciate your update on future books. I'm not sure what it takes to make it happen, but as an ereader.com user, I wondered if you were considering having your books available there?

Baen are big on ebooks and sell all their titles (and a few others) on Webscriptions at http://www.webscription.net/default.aspx

So, I doubt any of my Baen titles would appear on ereader.com.

Baen also have a free ebook library.

I'd never seen that site before, but webscription.net is great! I wish I'd ordered Resonance there instead of through amazon - that's much more convenient for me. Thanks for the information!
